My first family trip for 2017 was finally confirmed with 6 adults and 1 baby (my nephew) to Hong Kong this coming February.
Now comes the headache which is to search for Hong Kong hotels. As we all know, Hong Kong hotels are really expensive as compared to other country and their hotel rooms are small. I usually used trivago to help in my hotel search. However, this time round, my sis-in-law recommended Agoda for cheaper hotel prices.
We decided to search for a hotel in the Mongkok area instead of the Hong Kong Island as Mongkok has a lot more cheap shopping areas. The hotel we will be staying is Holiday Inn Mongkok. The prices I found for 3 double rooms for 5 nights as follows:
1) Trivago cheapest rates via Bookings.com : $2,493
2) Agoda non-member rates: $2,442
3) Agoda member rates: $2,379
Agoda offers much cheaper rates when you sign up as their member.
Do Click Here to access Agoda and search for your hotels for the best competitive rates.
In addition to the Agoda rates, I am able to earn cashback from the hotel booking through Shopback. When you spend through Shopback, you received a portion of your purchase as Cashback from participating vendors. Agoda is one of their participating vendor and they gave 6% cashback for every completed stay. If I clicked through Agoda link via Shopback and completed the purchase, a pending cashback of $142 (6% of $2,379) will be in my Shopback account and becomes redeemable after I complete my hotel stay on 28 Feb. I will be able to withdraw the cashback to my bank account.
In total, we only paid $2,237 or $372/Pax for a 6D5N Holiday Inn Mongkok stay in Hong Kong.
You can also earn cashback via other online travel vendors such as Expedia, Bookings.com, Hotels.com, Singapore Airlines etc.
If you will like to earn cashback for your travel deals, do sign up Here and you instantly earn $5 cashback upon signing up.

Review of Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch and One Step Pimple Clear Pad
My skin is very prone to acne breakouts, especially when I eat heaty food, the weather gets too humid or during the time of the month.
Cosrx, a Korean brand, has a range of skincare products which are targeted at improving acne problems. I have used two of their products - the Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch and the Cosrx One Step Pimple Clear Pad and they have helped to reduce my pimples and prevent breakouts.
Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch
The Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch comes in a sheet of 25 patches of 3 different sizes. Each patch is almost transparent and you can place it on your pimple and go out as normal without anyone noticing. However, you require a few patches to completely heal each pimple as you need to replace each patch once it turns white when the pimple junk are absorbed. This product is useful if you have one or two pimples to clear. Each Cosrx Pimple Master Patch costs around $4.
Cosrx One Step Pimple Clear Pad
I got to know about the Cosrx One Step Pimple Clear Pad a few months after using the Pimple Master Patch. It comes in a cute bottle and contains 70 individual pre-moistened pads. Use one pad and swipe both sides over the entire face. The pad is designed to wipe away excess dirt, oil and purify clogged pores. The liquid from the pad is moisturizing and have a soft scent. Although it is recommended to use one pad twice a day, I only used the pads when I have a breakout over my face. After using the pads, my pimples noticeably reduced in size and my face cleared in the next 2-3 days. One Cosrx Pimple Clear Pad costs around $15 and it can last me for 2 months.

Holiday in Phuket - Centara Villas Phuket
My second blog on our travels to Phuket is on Centara Villas Phuket. The resort is located on the cliffs overlooking the crescent of Karon Bay and a 45 minutes drive from the Phuket Airport. It has access to Karon beach which is situated at the foot of the hill.
We booked a pool villa which has a private 5 metre pool overlooking the ocean. These are some pictures of the villa.

As the resort is built on cliffs, it can be a challenge to walk down to the beach as the steps are very steep and dangerous towards the bottom. There are also many steps in the resort between the various rooms and the resort facilities. However, there is a buggy transportation provided by the villa.
Most of our meals are settled in the resort restaurant as there are no shops near the resort. On one of the days, we walked down to the beach and walked to some restaurants and provision shops at the other side of the beach. That took us around 30 mins.
Rooms are cleaned but a bit old fashioned. The private pool deck and the pool need some maintenance as they appeared old and rundown. However, the view of the ocean was breathtaking. The spa, which happens to be just in front of our pool villa, was good and affordable.
It was a relaxing trip lazing by the private pool all day. However, we will not visit the resort again due to its remote location and steep pathways.

Holiday in Phuket - Aleenta Resort and Spa
We love phuket a lot due to its nice beaches and sunny weather. We will make it a point to travel to Phuket once a year and try out the different beach resorts. I will blog about the different resorts / villas we stayed in Phuket.
First, I will talked about the best resort we stayed so far in Phuket. It is the Aleenta Phuket Resort & Spa. Our stay was in the Ocean View Loft Suite facing the sea. The Suite offer double height ceilings and glass walls open to a private sun deck with a large shared swimming pool. Both the downstairs living room and upstairs bedroom enjoy magnificent sea views.

As we love to swim a lot, we will normally look for resorts that comes with direct pool access or a private pool.

The Suite also comes with a private jacuzzi in the bathroom.

The Aleenta Resort and Spa is situated just 20 minutes from the Phuket airport. The airport transfer can be arrange with the hotel directly. It has a private beach and is away from the crowded Phuket town. The resort is recommended for people who wants to have a quite and peaceful getaway.
There are not much shops and no restaurants anywhere near the resort. Most of the meals have to be settled in the resort restaurants unless you book a transport to the nearby local town. There is a small shop that sells snacks just a few walks away from the resort. For us, we just settle our meals in the resort and stock up snacks from the small shop near the resort.
All in all, this is a lovely resort and a nice place to chill out and relax in the pool or the private beach. Would probably try the private pool villa the next time we book with the resort.

Sweet honeymoon at Club Med Kani Maldives
I was looking through my old facebook albums and saw the wonderful pictures taken during my honeymoon 6 years ago! Time flies and those were really sweet memories.
I still remembered we got a really good deal at NATAS fair for our honeymoon package. It was a one for one clubmed all inclusive deal for 2 persons for a beachfront resort ($5k plus including SQ air tickets for 2!). Not too sure if we can get such good deals now.
We arrived in the evening at the resort and was escorted to our room. When we reached our room, I was surprised to find that it was not a beachfront room but an over-water bungalow! We got a free upgrade due to being on a honeymoon!
These are the pictures of our bungalow! Imagine waking up to the sea and sunrise and having the seaview while soaking in the tub.
We saw many fishes (including baby sharks) swimming in the sea in front of our bungalow.
We enjoyed sitting at our private balcony, enjoying a cup of coffee or tea while enjoying the views of the sea. Really missed such relaxing moments.
One of the things we like about clubmed is that they provide full board meals and we need not worried about getting hungry. Even little bites in between meals are provided for and the food are really tasty. You can request room service for breakfast to be delivered to your room. They have a main buffet restaurant, beachfront bar, cafe and a fine dining restaurant. For dinner at the fine dining restaurant, you will need to queue to secure a seat a few hours before dinner. The dress code is formal.
Breakfast delivered to our room.
Dining at the main restaurant.
Enjoying drinks at the beachfront bar.
Light bites/snacks.
Fine dining.
Clubmed has a lot of activities you can enjoy in the resort (all included in the travel package). However, we did not take part in any as we prefer to just eat, sleep and relax. If you are planning for a trip to maldives, I would highly recommend Clubmed and try to book for a beachfront resort or over-water bungalow as they are more private and offers fantastic views of the ocean.
